Dr Andy Hodgson is a Consultant Haematologist at Sligo University Hospital and Associate Clinical Director of the Laboratory Directorate for the Saolta Healthcare Group. He was the first Haematologist appointed to Sligo, in 2004, and has been greatly supported by his Clinical and Laboratory team in developing the service since then.
A Yorkshireman, Dr Hodgson received his Undergraduate training at Imperial College, London, before moving to Ireland in 1995. He completed his Haematology Specialist Training in 2003. He is a former National Specialty Director for Higher Medical Training and also sat on the Irish National Accreditation Board. He is a Haematology representative to the National Cancer Care Programme and is also currently Chair of the Sligo Hospital Oncology Unit Trust (SHOUT).
