The next meeting of the Multiple Myeloma Support Group Northwest will be on Monday, 22nd October, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, in Sligo Cancer Support Centre, 44 Wine St., Sligo.
This meeting will be just ourselves so hope you will be able to attend. One topic up for discussion will be a plan for the next meeting and what specific subject you would like discussed and what speaker should we ask to attend.
At our last meeting Joan Burke, psychologist and counselor from the Sligo Cancer Support Center spoke to us on ‘Coping with Cancer’.
She divided this subject into three distinct stages from Diagnosis, through Treatment and onto the Recovery stage.
And the importance of recognizing and understanding our emotions throughout this journey.
Joan engaged with the group and we spent the entire evening talking at the kitchen table.
This is also a good time to remind everyone that the Multiple Myeloma Ireland Information Day is planned for Thursday 8th November in the Sligo Park Hotel.
This is the first time that the Information Day will be held in Sligo.
As always, the day promises to be informative while at the same time is an opportunity to chat with fellow patients, carers and family.
The line up for this year has a strong Sligo representation so hope you will be able to attend.
The day is free to attend but you need to register.
Remember, your family, friends and carers are all very welcome to come along to our meetings.
